Dear Sir or Madam,
I am writing to apply for the position of Junior Graphic Designer at Nakama. I am confident that my graphic design skills and qualifications gained over the last years allow me to fulfill the job requirements and contribute to the work of the agency.
While studying for a BA in Graphic Design, I polished my Adobe software skills to a proficient level. Working with CAD on a daily basis, I gained a thorough understanding of using Adobe In-Design, Photoshop & Illustrator. I have later utilized those skills by pursuing my career as a freelance designer and participating in numerous projects and competitions. Remaining in constant communication with clients, I learned how to present and articulate my ideas, while being flexible to their needs.
My education provided me with a good knowledge of design techniques, document layout and typography. In my freelance work, I was able to polish those skills by building a corporate image of multiple companies in Mexico, such as 'Diablitos' restaurant, Karin Torres boutique and Roomers a local estate agency. In 2013, I won a national contest for a label design promoting the 120th anniversary of 'Indio' beer in Mexico. As a result, Heineken Company was distributing my design nationally.
Photography is one of my biggest passions. I have a thorough knowledge of using Canon SLR and Speedlite lighting. Working as a freelance designer, I was also responsible for product photography for various clients. One of them was the up and coming rock band Los Mcallister, for whom I created all the artwork, including promo shots, press kit and album artwork.
I picture myself as a dreamer, passionate about utilizing design as a tool to solve real problems. Having observed intellectual theft becoming a problem in art schools, I got involved with the launch of a social campaign against plagiarism. I am passionate about the digital world and have an in-depth understanding of emerging technologies and new solutions in media. I believe that those qualities combined with my skills and experience make me a perfect candidate for this role.
