ABOUT
An industry-first, insight-led participation campaign designed to shine a light on the issues of diversity, equity, and inclusion in science – and importantly, offer some solutions. Putting a global audience in the position of ‘mentor’, scientists around the world provided their own unique advice, guidance, and perspectives to a central character – Grace, a young girl passionate about pursuing a career in STEM. Our narrative-led survey was intensively researched and designed to authentically address various obstacles that women and people of colour consistently face, as they progress through academia and pursue STEM careers.
Through gathering these perspectives via a purpose-built interactive platform, we uncovered staggering statistics, inspiring anecdotes, and optimistic words of advice.
With a view to doing good with these findings, and using the ideas and solutions from her mentors, Grace presented back to the industry a ‘hypothesis for change’ – in their own words.
Meta-human and motion-capture technology brought this character to a discerning audience in an authentic, original, and refreshing way. Grace’s story sparked panel discussions at industry events, extensive discussions and the sharing of stories on social media. She provided a much-needed platform to support the historic and ongoing efforts of some of the industry’s hardest-working voices in the fight for DEI in STEM.
