Pearlfisher London

ABOUT

Our award-winning garden design for the 2018 RHS Chelsea Flower Show in London highlighted what we're set to lose and ultimately, change behaviour.

isualising the plight of a planet drowning in waste our innovative garden design showcased the dichotomy of the beauty and destruction present in our oceans. It underlined our desire to use our design expertise and lightweighting design ethos to remove and reduce the environmental impact of everything we create, with our clients and partners.

An immersive, inspiring and storytelling experience was told through the design using specimen planting including cacti, succulents and exotics. A 3D printed sculpture of a pearl diver symbolised a harmonious existence with our oceans, Jason deCaires Taylor’s sculpture ‘Coral Man’ highlighted the impact of coral bleaching, whilst a boundary wall made from 500 reclaimed plastic bottles – represented the amount of plastic thrown into the ocean every 2.5 seconds – providing a contextual backdrop to the man-made threat that our ocean’s face.

Botanical illustrations were used across print collateral and the website – giving the Garden a legacy to be experienced and discovered after the Show. Highlighting a very real and global issue in a thought-provoking and desirable way, the Garden captured the interest of politicians, celebrities and the public, and was broadcast across international press including print, radio and digital media.
