ABOUT
Yorkshire-based retailer Katherine Taylor - who has had over 20 years working in the industry - wanted to create a new brand from scratch. She already has a successful ladies’ wear shop in Doncaster called ‘Seen’, which featured on BBC's ‘Mary Queen of Shops’.
She was looking to crack the designer children wear industry with the help of KidDotCo.
Milk is a commodity that is enjoyed by kids of all ages. This, we felt was key in the development of this brand. KidDotCo wanted to avoid going down the route most shops go down thinking kids shops need to be branded really 'kiddy' so we took inspiration from American illustrator Norman Rockwell's 50's advertising, the brand was built up to become one of the market leaders when it comes to designer kid’s wear.
The design on the logo was made to look like it had been coloured in, with a texture effect rather than being flat. The use of the dot on the ‘I’ being replaced with a chick was to link it to the age of the audience. The retro inspiration and colour scheme perfected what the brand wanted to portray.
