BRIEF
Create a product that exemplified contemporary Scottish design for an international showcase in Milan, London and Glasgow with DesignersBlock and The Lighthouse. The product should comment upon Scottish identity, character and creativity.

APPROACH
Again in collaboration we took two products that are iconic of Scottish culture and created a new product from it that speaks of Scottish ingenuity and character. The Waist Knot lamp’s form was inspire by traditional highland dress: the kilt, the tartan and the proportions of who, on average, would wear it.

RESULT
The floor lamp stands at 1.1 scale of an average Scot’s man with the top of the lamp positioned where the waist would be. The lamp is virtual presence of the icon of the tradition Scotsman, casting shadow and light on the ground below.
