ABOUT

BRIEF
To create a product whose form was informed by traditional hand-on manufacturing craft, that was able to be stored and transported flat and was easily recycled, reducing the products carbon footprint and impact upon the environment

APPROACH
Exploring how organic processes like blossoming and growth can influence manufactured forms, bringing the natural world and the human-made world closer through gently innovative design.

RESULT
The Form concepts were developed using traditional origami techniques, using paper squares in a variety of scales, combining multiples together or in clusters, then developed into closed forms, where origami was abandoned to create structure in varying degrees of ‘bloom’ and ‘decay’.

Some concept pieces were developed with One Foot Taller (Scottish design studio) and the most recent iterations were exhibited at The House for an Art Lover, Glasgow.

This is a continuing project that will next be explored using more industrial manufacturing techniques.
