The vac pac fish was made in collaboration withTristan Cochrane, we have taken soft fresh perishable sardines and through the process
of lost wax casting, have transformed them into tough durable aluminium.
Taking as a starting point an early morning trip to the fish market, a series of plaster molds are produced of many sardines and from these molds
can be produced many more wax copy fish.
Drawing on 12 years experience in the fishing industry in Scotland before becoming a designer, Tristan has a real affinity to work with the fish. Knowing in depth how the fish behave and look when alive is indispensable for transmitting this feeling into the aluminium copies.
With these pieces, a moment in time that would otherwise have been lost, has been frozen in aluminium.
