ABOUT

The Problem
Dyslexia affects up to 870k children in the UK, yet only 150k are actually diagnosed. Leaving them without the support they need at a key time. Screeners are available but they’re stressful for the child and cause a stigma about the condition in the process. We needed to find a way to help parents spot signs of dyslexia without their child even being aware of it and let them enjoy the experience.
The Idea
Working with Dyslexia Teachers, we took complex dyslexia screeners and turned them into a children’s book. Testing the child, without them knowing they were being tested. The story was written to include key factors in early signs of dyslexia such as Fry’s First 100 words, corrective partial decoding & processing difficulties. For the parent it acted as a tool, for the child it was a fable.
The Results
Launched on World Book Day 04.03.2021 the book was made free to order via a AndiGoes. com. The book has made its way into over 1,500 homes across the UK & it has been added to educational materials in over 20 schools. Andi has also made its way across the globe to Australia, Canada, USA, France, Holland, Brazil & The Bahamas.
