We spent 7 days driving through Austria to photograph Kids who are part of the Stiftung Kindertraum. Stiftung Kindertraum is a charity that support children and families who have fallen through the state system when i comes to support their special needs. This project aimed to bring them all under the same light in a studio. Since that was logistically not possible we visited the families and recreated the same set up as much as possible.
The end result was an exhibition which was covered by Austrian TV to raise awareness and boost the fundraising for the kids and their families.

The "You-Are-You" Syndrome. Many children supported by the Stiftung Kindertraum (Children's Dream Foundation) live with a "syndrome." In medicine, this term describes a combination of symptoms that indicate a specific illness. Because of this, the word usually has a negative connotation. That is exactly why it obscures so much.The portraits by Patrick Tichy aim to uncover and reveal what lies beneath. His photographs want to showcase the strength, life energy, joy, and the many abilities of these children. In this way, a different, unknown syndrome is brought into focus: The "You-Are-You" Syndrome. It describes, through both words and impressive portraits, what makes these children so unique and so special.
