A creative project no longer needs every contributor in the same studio. Cloud libraries, shared review tools, and version histories allow illustrators, animators, editors, and clients to work from different places.

The awkward part is organisation. A folder containing “final,” “final-new,” and “final-really-final” remains chaos, even when stored in the cloud. Clear naming, access rules, and approval stages prevent technology from becoming an expensive cupboard.

A New Tool Must Earn a Place

Creative software often arrives with an impressive demonstration. Daily production provides a harsher test.

Questions worth asking before changing the workflow

  • Can existing files move in and out safely?

  • Will the result remain editable?

  • Does the licence permit commercial use?

  • Can the team reproduce the process later?

A short trial on one project can reveal more than a polished sales video. The best tool is not always the newest option. Reliability has a quiet charm.

Creative Judgement Remains the Deciding Technology

New technology can accelerate a rough draft, organise complex assets, and make impossible scenes practical. None of it can decide which idea deserves attention or why one image feels honest while another feels empty.

Designers and digital artists are gaining broader technical power, not losing creative responsibility. The canvas now includes code, data, real-time engines, and generative systems. Taste still decides what stays.
