Particle6 London

ABOUT

Concept:
Uswitch briefed Particle6 to create their first-ever Christmas TV commercial: a 20-second spot to promote free electricity on Christmas Day, ready to air across linear TV and SVOD in December 2025. The constraints were extreme — five weeks from brief to broadcast, a fraction of the typical Christmas-ad budget, and a high creative bar in the most cluttered ad break of the year.
The insight driving the work: Christmas amplifies everything, including the quiet anxiety around energy bills. Behind every warm, sparkling festive home is a low-level tension — who's left a light on, who's turned the heating up. Uswitch's free-electricity offer spoke directly to that tension, and the creative needed to dramatise it and resolve it with the emotional shorthand of a great Christmas ad: warmth, family, sparkle.
The resulting idea — "Ready for a Christmas that Sparkles?" — centred on a stylised, stop-motion-style vision of a British home at Christmas, anchored on Uswitch's iconic "U" character. Tension builds around the lights and power of the festive home; Uswitch's offer resolves it. The spot lives entirely inside the brand's established visual world.

Execution:
Particle6 produced the entire commercial through its AI-powered pipeline, steered by a core team of just six people. The pipeline covered concept and script development, AI video generation, voice casting, sound design, and a high-resolution still for PR. Music was licensed separately by Uswitch.
Brand fidelity was maintained throughout: the spot opened on a white frame with the signature square device before tracking into the animated world, was shot at 12fps to replicate the stop-motion feel of previous campaigns, kept the camera centrally locked on the "U" at all times, and followed the brand's established narrative structure of tension and resolution.
Clearcast approval ran concurrently with creative production, not after it. The script was pre-cleared before generation began, rough cuts submitted for early feedback, and the fast-track service compressed final approval. The AI pipeline absorbed compliance notes in near-real-time — frames regenerated, copy adjusted, voice re-recorded without restarting a shoot. With AI advertising disclosure and BCAP Code obligations all in active development, compliance was built into the workflow rather than bolted on.
The AI pipeline also transformed the client relationship. Revisions were near-instant, and final sign-off came faster than a traditional pipeline would allow even the briefing stage to conclude. Media was handled by Zenith.

Results:
2025 saw repeated public backlash against AI-generated advertising, with audiences quick to reject work that felt synthetic or uncanny. This spot didn't trigger that response. The AI served the brand rather than announcing itself — established visual world, existing character, proven narrative grammar. Audiences responded to the work, not the workflow.
A first-time Christmas advertiser, with five weeks and a small team, delivered a commercial that competed in the most contested ad window of the year — and proved that an AI production pipeline need not compromise creative quality to deliver it.
