ABOUT
Concept:
Hearst Networks commissioned us to produce a short-form series for Sky History bringing together two people with opposing lived connections to the same historical or cultural event. Each episode examines how class, race, gender, or social standing shapes individual experience of world-changing moments, closing with a moment of reflection where contributors process what they have heard from each other.
Topics covered across the five episodes include the COVID-19 pandemic, the British monarchy, immigration, and UFOs.
Execution:
The series was filmed in a compact studio, with the full production pipeline being handled in-house by Particle6. AI was used across several stages of production: subject research and episode design during development, and casting, where detailed profiles drawn from pre-interview transcripts were fed into ChatGPT to simulate mock debates between potential pairings, allowing the team to assess editorial, emotional, and ethical fit before filming began. In post-production, Adobe Podcast's Enhance Speech tool was used to address ambient noise from the studio environment. AI was also used to develop the music score structure, analysing pacing and tone to recommend a music architecture across each episode.
Results:
Two Sides of History aired on Sky History in September 2025 and was made available across Hearst Networks' VoD and social platforms. The series was Particle6's second commission from Hearst Networks EMEA, and the relationship has continued with further commissions since.
