ABOUT

CONCEPT

To create a welcoming home for Amitola Workshop, my handmade gift shop and creative workspace in Ruthin, North Wales. The space needed to bring together a varied collection of resin keepsakes, personalised glassware, crochet and upcycled pieces, while sharing the premises with my son’s photography business, Thor’s Eye Photography.

EXECUTION

I brought together a pink-and-blue colour palette, floral mural, botanical wall, window lettering and thoughtfully arranged product displays. Upcycled furniture and personal details helped give the space its individual character, connecting the shop’s identity with the handmade work inside.

The name Amitola honours my mum’s wool shop, while the workshop reflects the practical creativity passed on by my dad.

RESULTS

The shop opened to the public in September 2026, creating a physical home for the business and a space for making, displaying products and meeting customers. The layout continues to evolve around everyday shop use, with craft workshops planned as a future stage.
