Meet Mr Bunson and his garden’s colourful, yummy berries

This was an animal character design for a community challenge. Mr. Bunson had very good intentions about rationing his harvest. He did not keep them.I framed this as a stolen moment, placing the small incidental details, the bee, the butterfly, the wild stems, around him to suggest a world carrying on while he quietly gobbles whatever was in his basket.Used a textured background with crayon-on-cartridge-paper feeling, prefered short directional marks on the fur and foliage that suggest form without overworking it.

I wanted the piece to feel handmade and a little imperfect, which felt right for his character (or any other characters I design).

Mr. Bunson has the energy of someone with very strong feelings about berries and very little regret about it.
