Salt & Vinegar? tells the story of the local history of the Irish-Italian chip shop anomaly. The content is researched and compiled as a constructed narrative which is a mix of historical data, local newspaper articles in relation to the chippers, as well as first-hand accounts and interviews from members of the Irish-Italian chip shop communities in Ireland.
The content comes together to represent the local customers, the significant family businesses and the reasons that led to their establishment within Irish society. The Irish-Italian chippers have been a cornerstone in Irish society for the last three or so generations and hopefully they will still be around for the next three, I wanted to honour that with my publication. This book is aimed at future generations of Irish people, so they can have a better understanding of the complete history and significance of their local chip shop.
