ABOUT
Glitch was the first major project of my degree, completed towards the end of the academic year.
The name and resulting design came about during a two-part unit in which I researched and analysed video games, focusing on The Sims franchise; looking into the colours, shapes and real-world controls. The latter part led me to consider a design that was inspired by the keys used when playing the game and typing in cheat-codes, allowing me to follow a more experimental process of construction.
The end garment was a pair of Oversized Patchwork Dungarees with purposeful mistakes accentuated via Sashiko embroidery that utilised a colour palette based on the emotions displayed when playing The Sims 4. The patches resembled common key shapes and the planned mistakes include uneven stitching and tucks in the fabric.
The photoshoot seen at the end was a collaboration with a few first-year photography students, of which I was part of the fashion team that planned the day.
