The first Tuesday of November marks Melbourne Cup Day – Australia’s most prestigious annual horse race. From midday you’ll find most Australians at the pub gearing up to watch the main event – you can only imagine the state the nation is in by the time the sun sets.

We admired Index Exchange’s ambition to host a breakfast the morning after so decided the best way to draw the crowds was to celebrate feeling a little fragile! Egg & Bacon rolls, Canadian Caesars and an expert panel on programmatic advertising, how’s that for a hangover cure?

From the very beginning we knew this event had to be special – the launch of Index Exchange in the Australian market wasn’t going to go unnoticed!

Kensington Street in Chippendale is known for its incredible food, stylish setting and convenient location close to the city. The Private Kitchen is on the top floor of an old Rum distillery and we instantly fell in love it’s raw characteristics.

Cocktails and canapés were flowing as guests swung through the door ensuring energy levels were at their peak. Placed down the table settings were ‘IX Recovery Kits’ containing luxury hand cream, lip balm, handcrafted mints and of course paracetamol to cure those splitting headaches.

We worked closely with the Eastside Grill to concept a themed menu, with a modern twist on the traditional hangover essentials like bacon rolls, detox juices and mini pizzas.

Australian native florals were featured throughout the space which complemented the minimal scandi furniture pieces. We contrasted rich opulent textures with paired back natural tones with an aim to keep the space cosy and the mood relaxed.
