ABOUT

Situated in the heart of central London The Portman Estate comprises of 110 acres of prime commercial retail and residential space located just to the north of Hyde Park in Marylebone. The Portman Estate needed a new brand identity and narrative, to help modernise them and inspire their environmental and community goals.

Through numerous strategy and research workshops, trips to the archivists and plentiful meetings with family members of the estate, a strategy was developed; a commitment to maintaining and protecting Marylebone.

This concept led to the creation of a new brand narrative and visual identity, drawing inspiration from the past when Sir William Portman acquired land in Marylebone as a gift from Henry VIII, alongside his title of Chief Justice of the King’s Bench. Much like the purpose of The Portman Estate today, Sir William Portman was dedicated to protecting, safeguarding, and serving society.

The new identity represents the beating heart of The Portman Estate. With over 500 years of history, the brand needed to be as much a proud salute to the past, as a vibrant and iconic marker for the future. To celebrate the rich heritage, positive approach and unique location that it is today, and will continue to be in the future.
