In tandem to my third year studies, I took part in a collaborative project with Urban Salon Architects, where I worked closely with the creative director to design, develop and prototype a new handrail system to add to their already popular range of oak handles and fixtures that are currently sold by Allgood PLC. This of course entailed extensive research, and an iterative design process involved sketching, model making, rapid prototyping and CAD to gain further knowledge not only for physical aesthetics and ergonomics but also to more fully appreciate the working fixture mechanism.
