ABOUT

Democracy Reporting International (DRI) is an independent, impartial, non-profit organization registered in Berlin dedicated to promoting democracy worldwide. The organization currently operates in 36 countries.

The main objective was to create a symbol that kepts DRI’s core values, but also facilitates visibility in a consistent and professional way.

The new DRI visual identity starts from the initial idea (the name abbreviation), it interferes with the global coverage of the organisation – having its headquarters in Berlin – ands extracts the essence that balances its current objectives with those from the past. The colour transition from brown to orange emphasizes optimism and determination. The need for rebranding was brought about by the expansion of the organisation and its need for focus, universality and coherence in terms of visual identity.

Therefore, the new identity is solid, has a clear shape and offers a new perspective of communication, across different environments and platforms. It is captivating, trusting and it offers the possibility of a dynamic identity that uses the symbol as a flexible space. The contrast between the symbol and the logotype generates interest, emphasizing the new approach taken by of the organisation.

The main objective was to create a symbol that keps DRI’s core values, but also facilitates visibility in a consistent and professional way. The concept brings up to date the old symbol and it "covers" the global map to highlight the work of the organization worldwide. From this intersection, is substrated the essence that starts centrally - from the headquarter - Berlin and expands globally.

In addition to the visual identity, secondary logos were developed for the countries in which the organization operates, a set of main icons - for themes that it addresses and secondary for the areas of intervention.
This is a capture from the Annual Report of the DRI -based on the new identity.
