Music packaging for the band The Kooks. The packaging was developed around the idea of the contrast between peace and aggression. The feeling that the music from this album has, I associated with both the disturbing effect of a storm and following that the calm space which comes straight after this storm. It combines aggressive tunes, full of energy with the opposite peacefully quiet motives. That opposition I have chosen to represent through contrasting the outside and the inside of the packaging. It is completely monochromatic from the outside, with really bright colourful shade from the inside. The softness of the music and at the same time its rough nature is also translated through the material - cork. The alternative to a box contains layers, which can be uncovered one after another. The top layer is where the small lyric book sits, followed by a compartment for the CD. Through the booklet, an animal theme is revealing the feel of the music. To each song, a picture - close up suggestive of the animal kingdom, is assigned in relation to the individuality of the different songs.The rough and soft paper which is used for the cover is in juxtaposition with the smooth and slightly glossy paper, used for the inside pages.
