ABOUT
Blue Marble Training is a project run by Shoreditch Trust to support vulnerable, young people by developing their professional skills and confidence in a live kitchen setting so that they can advance into long-term careers within the food industry.
The brief for this project was in two parts, firstly to attract new supporters and funders of the scheme and secondly to encourage other young people who could benefit from taking part themselves.
Rather than creating a typical promo video outlining each aspect of what the course offers, we proposed developing a short documentary, which would be able to give voice to and showcase the talents of young people who had already been through the training. Pivotal to the success of the film was our approach to interviewing the subjects, doing so off-camera in a low-pressure situation that allowed for frank and honest conversation.
The film has been extremely well-received, getting excellent feedback from participants on the course and attracting new funding from supporters who have seen the film. The film has won a Lovie for Best Editing and has recently been screened ahead of films for a month at the Genesis Cinema in East London.
