ABOUT

The identity builds on the restaurant’s use of local ingredients, and the no-fuss cooking. The fish tail being the central image in a series of ingredient shots.

Residing in a grade listed Georgian building, the logotype is reflecting this heritage by the choice of a classic antiqua (Bembo), but giving it a contemporary twist with a more generous kerning and the use of lower case only.

Typically, a restaurant website has a dark background, low lit images of the interior, and pictures of plated dishes. I made Landgate bistro’s website stark white, communicating freshness and echoing the white washed walls of the premises. I wanted the feel of that the ingredients are lying directly on the background, ready to pick up. Additional images in black & white suggest the ingredients’ origin, and snapshots from the kitchen preparation.

The clean design and the theme of ingredients against white background provides flexibility, at the same time communicating a strong brand identity over several platforms.
