Niki Kehoe After Effects Asset Builder and Animator

ABOUT

I was team lead of the 2D animation department as well as 2D asset builder and animator in After Effects. My team had five others on it. The project I was on is a mix of 3D and 2D so the days varied quite a lot.

My duties included creating assets for 2D animation in Photoshop or Illustrator, creating 2D assets for the 3D rigs (mostly facial assets like eyes and mouths), exporting 2D character assets and building the characters in After Effects, rigging characters, setting up shots, animating 2D shots, animating special effects like weather and water, and exporting 3D render mattes out of 3DS Max to integrate into After Effects.

My role as team lead meant I was the point of communication for every other department on the show. The show is done entirely in house, so that means I communicated with pre-production, production and post production. I made sure everyone has the information they need or the answers they need to questions.

I also made sure we had systems in place for the 2D team to work as effectively as possible and that we met our tight deadlines and achievde the highest possible standard. I also trained in new members of team. I worked closely with the production managers to develop the production pipeline for the 2D team on the show.
