ABOUT

I first joined the Ely Folk Festival committee early 2022 to work on their souvenir programme. In 2023, the stages were renamed to move away from generic 'Stage 1', 'Stage 2' and 'Stage 3'. It was decided the stages would be named after birds, and I suggested using illustrations of the birds to help people identify the stages, and add a touch of creativity to the site - thus landing myself a task!

These illustrations (created using stick and Indian ink, and watercolour) have been used yearly since, and have woven their way into other parts of the festival, such as the souvenir programme, email newsletters, leaflets, reusable beer cups, and merchandise including the souvenir t-shirt. Prints of the birds are also for sale over the festival weekend.

The 2025 souvenir t-shirt in particular went down well, selling out - bar a couple of children's sizes!
