Project Overview
I was responsible for ensuring that the Wellcome Trust’s 2025 annual report was fully accessible online, allowing all users – including those with visual, auditory, cognitive, or motor disabilities – to access content seamlessly.
Challenge
•.Complex Document Structure: The report included tables, charts, footnotes, and multiple sections that needed proper semantic tagging for screen readers.
• Visual Data Accessibility: Infographics and charts required descriptive alternative text and high-contrast colors.
• Navigation & Interaction: The multi-section layout and embedded links had to be keyboard-friendly and logically ordered.
• Compliance Requirements: The report needed to meet international accessibility standards while remaining visually engaging and readable for all users.
Impact
• The online report became fully WCAG 2.1/2.2 AA compliant, ensuring equitable access for all audiences.
• Enhanced readability and navigation benefited not only users with disabilities but improved the experience for all visitors.
