ABOUT
Women’s Day in 2025 was not like before. This year, Google removed it from their calendar – and with it, from the schedules of 500 million active users and 1.8 billion Google account holders. And that was just one example of what’s been happening to women’s rights around the world lately.
For Me Naiset, Finland’s largest women’s magazine and a long-standing advocate for equality, this was not the kind of development they’ve spent decades working toward. Since their first issue in the 1950s, they have stood by all women – covering topics from abortion rights to diverse body image.
Just like elsewhere in the world, Google Calendar is widely used in Finland. So when International Women’s Day disappeared from it, countless Finns were also left without an important reminder.
International Women’s Day isn’t just about flowers. It’s a symbolic reminder that women’s achievements matter – and that equality still needs attention. From the brand’s point of view, the day had to be in calendars.
Even if it meant adding it manually. Since we couldn’t email a calendar invite to everyone in Finland, we decided to publish it for the whole country to see.
