ABOUT
A Modern Nation. A Modern Font? Is a self-directed project asking the question? Can a typeface define a country? Does the characteristics of a typeface reflect a modern nations social economical community in the 21st century? Does this typeface tell truth or lie about the country?
As a nation’s economy change and develop, sometimes they lose their identity and forget their origins or some do not. Designers create type to illustrate a nations economy to sell a typical product originated from for example, a Chinese food establishment in London, England they would used a Chinese typeface with Chinese calligraphic symbols to represent where it comes from. But does the typeface on the visual sign truly define its country in the 21st century? What is the message behind the visual?
This is a concept on how visual communication is converted from languages to sending a message or information too and from one and other. In the 21st century our planet has become a giant network of communication that we are all connected too. With the advancement of technologies and everything becoming digitalised, people can communicate to each from the Internet, digital devices, emails, Facebook and Twitter communication to each other never been so accessible. In which typography has become the face of communication for people to connect with.
In depth research has been explored in to all the aspects of typography. All of the inhabited continents about there economies and cultures past, present and future. Looking into typographers, designers, agencies and Type Foundry’s in how to utilise type to communicate the visual in the modern 21st century.
