About me

As a driven individual who has recently graduated with a first class honors degree in English Language and Journalism, I am eager to put my skills and expertise to use straight away. I believe the position of Junior Copywriter would allow me to utilise my talents and grow within the role.

As journalism is my forte, my written and verbal communication skills are of an exceptionally high standard, having undertaken various work experience opportunities as well as writing continuously throughout my three years at university. My experience stems from placements such as a week's work experience with the Birmingham Mail, to writing for my university newspaper and website for three years. I also write for student website My Student Style, being the music editor for the website, liaising with the other editors and having regular contact with the contributors to my section. My main role as editor is to proof read submissions, meaning I have a great eye for detail and I am meticulous when it comes to spelling and checking errors - attributes which stem from my love of the English Language.

Throughout my degree I have practiced writing weekly in the various workshops I undertook, from news stories to nibs, and from features to interviews. This experience has allowed me to express both my creativity, with the freedom of writing about subjects I am passionate about, and my professionalism, writing about topics from news to sport; proving my ability to be diverse and flexible, adapting to any task I was set and being confident whilst carrying it out.

I pride myself on being a bright and conscientious person, with exceptional organisational skills which have seen me strike a perfect balance between studying, gaining vital work experience, working part time and also managing a busy social life. In both education and work life I have become an exceptionally confident and approachable person; knowing that in order to gain a job in the media sector I must be highly personable. My current job as a customer assistant in a fast-paced city centre environment has allowed me to constantly use and further develop my communication skills, alongside utilising these skills whilst completing my degree.

I strive to reach and surpass all my goals in education, work and my social life, and I am relishing the opportunity to set new goals and targets in a full time role. With innovative ideas and a driven and organised attitude, I believe I am a strong candidate for the position of junior copywriter and I am confident I can excel in the role.
