Natalie Lawrence Presentations and Word Document Designer

ABOUT

Redleaf commissioned me for a four-week project to update its brand across its suite of PowerPoint and Word files and improve consistency in the documents they produced. This covered a range of tasks:
• create new designs for their PowerPoint presentations and longer Word reports;
• update existing branding guidelines document and shorter Word documents with updated logo and fonts;
• introduce new techniques for creating Word documents;
•create infographics, an icon library and builds for their PowerPoint presentations, as well as reformat a couple of existing presentations to provide alternative ideas on showing case studies and concepts.

I also created training slideshows, so Redleaf could refer to it when creating the new Table of Contents and building blocks and customising a ribbon in Word.

New design for Word report templates:
I created four draft designs for Redleaf to choose from, with the final version containing a customised Table of Contents, a Picture Content Control on the front cover to insert logos, custom table styles and Redleaf’s own Building Blocks library.

Because Word’s Table of Contents feature provides limited design options, I created an alternative using the Cross-reference feature. This made it possible to be more creative in designing this feature.

Another advanced feature I introduced to these documents was Building Blocks. These are assets (such as text boxes, tables, cover pages, etc) that are saved in a template file and available to use in all documents without having to find an existing document and copy and paste them from there.

I created a Redleaf template of building blocks - team biographies, brand-coloured text boxes for quotes, 2-, 3-, and 4-column tables to easily insert images and captions and section page covers, each in their own galleries. I also showed them how to create a customised ribbon so they quickly find the asset they wanted to use.

New PowerPoint template, infographics, icon library and builds:
I created standard size and widescreen PowerPoint templates with two sets of multiple slide layouts; one for printed presentations (with small font size to allow for more text) and another set with the same slide layouts but tor screen presentations (with larger font, restricting the amount of text on screen and encouraging more use of graphics).
