About me

I am a graduate of Interior Design from De Montfort University in Leicester and I want to be a designer, so it's a good job I like being stressed (it makes me feel important) because I've heard exactly what the design industry is like. And as for getting those grey hairs early, I don't need to worry about that because they are already here!

For me, Interior Design is all about making people feel something. It is essential for a space to hold the right atmosphere and evoke the desired emotions and reactions from the people using it. ‘How does this space make people feel

By surrounding myself with art and design it is not difficult for me to feel inspired and motivated to work. I reflect on my own experiences in order to aid the design process and often visualize myself and others within the design in order to determine how people use and interact with the space.

I have had exposure to a variety of areas within Interior Design whilst studying it at University. The course allowed individuals to focus on a preferred area, including Retail, Performance, Leisure, Living, Working and Exhibition. Although I chose to concentrate on the Exhibition sector, I feel confident enough to carry out the design process and apply it to any area.

Whilst at University I took part in a fast paced two week project which was to design for an external client. This involved an initial briefing, progress and feedback meetings and a final presentation to the client. This gave me a useful insight into the working world and experience of working efficiently, under pressure and to a client's brief. From this I Iearnt the value of good time management, organization and the importance of putting in the extra hours when needed. That feeling of satisfaction and achievement when presenting a design that the client more than approved of made the sleepless nights all worth while.

I enjoy working with and around other people, I feel feedback and discussions with others are key to a good design solution. I value the thoughts and opinions of those around me and find this very useful when developing my own ideas. I hope you will welcome me as part of the team within your company.
