ABOUT
Research shows that 36% of the public think the police are effective at protecting those at greatest risk of harm and reducing crime. Also 1 in 4 people would speak highly of their local police. The aim of the campaign is to show that police are taking action and trying to make places safer for the public and to show the more positive side of things that you don’t see in the media. This campaign will improve the public’s perception of the police and hopefully improve it over time. The target audience is 14 - 25 year olds as they believe everything they read on social media and are most likely to disrespect the police to look cool. The campaign
includes clean graffiti, posters and a social media account. The graffiti will draw in a younger audience as they tend to vandalise things and most places they hang out has it. They posters are in the style of social media posts as younger people are always on social media so seeing posters in this style will get them to read it. The campaign include research from the Annual report in 2022 which focuses on the Southampton police force. The campaign will run through national police week. This is the week that May 15th falls in. Clean graffiti and posters will appear all over Southampton city centre at the start of the week.
