This was a personal project exploring the British penny to create a handmade typeface.
THE PROCESS

To maintain consistency of the ascenders, descenders and counters of the letters, a grid was created. This grid was then followed to create the typeface.

Dull pennies and shinny pennies were separated to create visual clarity and legibility.

This project was picked up by SendPoints publishing house and published in 'The Making of Artistic Typefaces'.
