ABOUT
This was commissioned for my best friend at the request of his sister. A recent event had left the wall above his fireplace a little bare. We decided to create a canvas framed illustration of his favourite comic book character; Deadpool. To be honest, this was the first time in years that I put pencil to paper after working so long in a digital world - it felt good. After the inking process was complete, I faced another challenge: no scanner available. Now, at the time, I was working at a print shop, but the schedule on this was tight and there wouldn't be time to scan at work. So, I took a well-lit photo with my Samsung Galaxy S6 - in Pro Mode, so I could have a RAW file to work with - and used that image to create a vector drawing in Illustrator. I opted to have a gradient background only, to give a strong contrast in the image. In the end, he was very appreciative and it made me happy to help boost his spirits at a low time.
