About me
I am writing to apply to the vacancy. I have recently completed and passed my three year education at London South Bank University, where I have received a 2:2 in my Bachelor of Arts in Creative Writing. I have a strong desire and passion to start working within the creative and publishing industry. I do believe that although I haven't had the paid experience, I would be a strong candidate for the vacancy.
You will see from my attached CV that I have gained specific and transferable skills throughout my education and history.
I have a great passion for creative, publishing and media. It has been a great desire and something I have wanted to begin a career in since I was a younger. I keep up to date as much as I can, by checking out my local libraries, book shops and online reviews about nonfiction coming out.
Through education I have studied Writing at university, and a two year course in Creative Media at college, both of which have helped me develop as a writer, and although being in education for many years, I still have worked towards the same career. I wish to be part of the industry in any way, shape or form, proving myself along the way. As time has passed, my enjoyment and interest of literature, nonfiction and media has grown tremendously.
I have developed my reading, writing and research skills through my degree and I have proven my ability to express critical opinions within a sustained argument in my work. A high level of research and analytical reading was essential to reach this standard. The experiences of writing short stories, novellas, short film scripts, television scripts, radio plays etc. have increased my confidence in these skills.
At the current moment, I am residing in Oxford and can commute to London and back. But this is not a permanent solution, I plan to move to London, when I have earned enough money to buy myself an apartment. To commute from my home to Central London takes less than two hours, and my mode of transport would be public coach and cycling.
I have worked almost exclusively on Apple computers since I started college and but use a Windows Laptop as my personal device. During University I expanded my knowledge and confidence of Mac and Microsoft programs such as Opera, Chrome, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook. I actively enjoy researching on the Internet using online journals and blogging websites. My keyboard speed ranges from wpm and usually increases after a few minutes of typing away.
I know I don't have the work experience that other candidates may be able to offer, but I know that this industry is where I need to be and I can bring enough drive, ambition and eagerness to learn into this role given the opportunity.
If I am successful as an applicant I would be able to start immediately.
