ABOUT
When I started working on the eWATER website, my biggest challenge was figuring out how to present a huge amount of information without making the site feel overwhelming. eWATER has an incredible story to tell, combining technology, sustainability and real-world impact, but there was a risk that visitors could get lost in the detail.
From the outset, I wanted the design to feel approachable and engaging. Rather than leading with facts and figures, I focused on creating an experience that would help visitors connect with the impact of eWATER's work first, then explore the more technical information as they moved through the site. My goal was to make the content feel easy to digest while still reflecting the scale and importance of what the organisation does.
As the sole designer on the project, I was responsible for shaping both the visual direction and overall user experience of the site. With so much content to accommodate, a big part of the process was finding ways to organise information clearly without sacrificing visual appeal.
I used strong imagery, generous spacing and a clear content hierarchy to guide users through the site and help them focus on the most important messages. Interactive elements were introduced throughout the experience to break up longer sections of content and encourage visitors to engage more deeply with the story. These moments not only made the site feel more dynamic but also helped communicate complex information in a more intuitive way.
I paid particular attention to the flow of the homepage, designing it to gradually introduce visitors to eWATER's mission, the technology behind it and the impact it is having around the world. Live data, visual storytelling and carefully considered layouts work together to create a journey that feels informative without becoming heavy or cluttered.
The finished website strikes a balance between information and storytelling, giving eWATER a platform that feels modern, credible and engaging. Despite the amount of content involved, the site remains easy to navigate and encourages visitors to explore further rather than simply skim through the information.
What I'm most proud of is how the design helps bring eWATER's impact to life. By combining powerful visuals, thoughtful interactions and a clear user journey, the website turns what could have been a very technical subject into something much more accessible and memorable for its audience.
