ABOUT

Digital print and design company MOO presents the Fonts of 2018, the results of a survey providing insight into all things typeface related. MOO surveyed 1,300 of their design-savvy customers across the United States to uncover the favorite go-to typeface and what is coming up as new on the scene.

MOO’s Global Creative Director, Brendan Stephens, weighs in on the findings. Here are his key takeaways:
The biggest up and coming trend we're seeing? The importance of simplicity. With the exception of Saturday Script and Quainton, the font choices are quite plain and slightly retro. Not much flourish or fuss. Less is more.
Nexa is very clean and a bit retro (in its lower cases), so it’s not surprising that we see a lot of that today. It feels a bit utilitarian and masculine, both good in the right context. Alternatively, Saturday Script, is a handwritten font that is on-trend at the moment and feels casual and approachable and feminine. It’s a great commercial font.
Helvetica has gotten a bad rap over the years but still reigns supreme, coming in at #2 among our customers’ “go-to” fonts. Classic, simple and when used properly, enhances without distracting – truly the LBD of fonts.
