Carbofranco was established in 2015 by Armando Franco. Located in Ponte de Sôr, the company has combined the activity of manufacturing charcoal with forestry activity since 1999. By using invasive forest species in Portugal and forest cleaning residues as raw material, Carbofranco does not use available wood for cutting from protected forests. Charcoal is made from firewood from the cleaning of end-of-life forests and trees.
