ABOUT
OverviewQuang San Art Museum is the first private art museum in Ho Chi Minh City dedicated exclusively to Vietnamese fine arts. With a growing collection of over 1,600 historically and culturally significant works, the museum offers a rare lens into the evolution of Vietnam’s artistic identity — from the beginning days of Indochine aesthetics to the dawn of contemporary expression.Unlike conventional institutions, Quang San is not just a place to see art, but to feel it. The museum unfolds as a contemplative journey where each gallery is a breath, each work a layered dialogue between memory and modernity. Its mission is to build Vietnamese art identity, while honoring the preservation efforts carried forward by generations — fostering a deep emotional and cultural connection through the legacy of Quang San Art MuseumWebsite: quangsan.museumConceptOur concept is "Layers of Contemplation", draws inspiration from the structure of a painting itself — where canvas, frame, and gesture form a unified whole. Each stroke is not isolated, but part of a larger rhythm, building depth through intention and silence. Like brush meeting edge, form meeting space, the identity reflects this interplay of tension and harmony. At Quang San, every detail — from typography and grid to brick, frame, and curated space — embodies the idea of individual units forming a larger whole. Just as each artwork is framed with care, each brick laid with purpose, and each encounter shaped by the people who pass through, the identity system builds upon these layers. Architecture, interior, and daily rituals become part of a living composition — echoing the museum’s vision to be not just a container of art, but a contemplative ecosystem where form, memory, and meaning quietly align.
LogoThe QSAM logo transforms the acronym into a visual structure where the rectangle replaces “A” as a symbol of art: a blank frame, a window or a canvas. When combined, the lockup doesn’t just spell out a name, it forms a corner of a painting: the tension between brush and edge, surface and structure. This spatial composition reflects the very act of viewing art. The mark becomes adaptable, reflective, and deeply tied to the way we experience curated space.
TypefaceThe typeface is a custom sans serif inspired by the museum’s signature architecture — where sharp structure meets quiet elegance. Drawing from the clean lines, solid forms, and rhythmic proportions of Quang San’s physical space, the typeface translates spatial harmony into typographic language. Its construction balances clarity with character: bold, modern, and modular — yet imbued with subtle expression through curved terminals and asymmetric cuts. Each form is shaped like a brushstroke on canvas, while also drawing directly from the museum’s distinctive column façade. This architectural rhythm of vertical segments and structured repetition becomes a typographic language — where each letter echoes the spatial cadence of Quang San Art Museum itself.
PhotographyEach photograph is more than documentation, it’s a close reading. With careful attention to surface, texture, and nuance, the images capture not just the artworks, but the quiet worlds within them. From delicate lacquer layers to expressive oil strokes, every frame reveals a micro-narrative — a fleeting gesture, a moment paused, a breath of the artist’s intent. Presented together, these details form a constellation of perspectives, inviting viewers to travel across eras, mediums, and emotional landscapes where each painting becomes its own intimate universe.
ApplicationThe layout follows a hanging indent principle, where the first few lines of each paragraph aligns flush left while the remaining lines are indented, creating a visual rhythm that subtly mirrors the shape of a column, a scroll, or a hanging artwork.
WebsiteThe website design is infused with the concept of layered rectangles, subtly echoing the museum’s architecture and curatorial rhythm. From color palette to artwork placement, every detail feels intentional — with clean, quiet navigation, soft transitions, and mobile responsiveness that mirror the contemplative spirit of Quang San Museum. Even buttons and menus feel like framed elements, reinforcing a unified, immersive experience.
