ABOUT
Painted faces is a publication that I made in response to 'The Emperor's New Clothes', a book that explores issues of prejudgment and misconception. I chose to look into the stereotypes of make-up through the ages. The publication consists of various make-up related timelines and I touch on trends that are still existing after many years, however possessing completely different opinions. E.g. red lipstick is very common nowadays, and is often a fashion statement. However, years ago, red lipstick was only worn by ladies who either were or were considered prostitutes.
