Real Science Kits Made Easy - this was probably one of the most complex but rewarding projects I've ever been involved with. The design was very upmarket, with sophisticated packaging and printing techniques as well as amazing educational content provided by the Department of Education and Children’s Services (DECS) of Australia. Not only did the kits require complex design and educational content, they also contained components which had to adhere to stringent quality and safety tests. The packaging was a rigid structure using separate pieces of think board all held together with a printed wrap - this created the folds which also acted at hinges on the magnetic lid - resulting in a satisfying closing mechanism. The wrap was a foil sheet printed with masked white areas. This was then overprinted with process colours giving a brushed metal effect on the areas where the reflective silver showed through.
