ABOUT

Concept

Symphonic Sketches was designed as a cinematic portrait of the Denver Philharmonic—an expressive blend of orchestral performance, movement, and visual storytelling. As director, I wanted to create an emotional bridge between musicians and viewers by translating the rhythm and texture of the score into a modern film language. The concept centered on capturing both the power of the ensemble and the intimate, human moments that happen within a live performance.

Execution

Mile High Films produced the film using a hybrid approach that combined live concert capture with stylized, controlled visual sequences. Our team designed a fluid camera plan to echo the musical phrasing, incorporating sweeping motion, slow-motion accents, and tight close-ups to draw audiences into the musicians’ experience. We paired dramatic lighting with layered sound design to elevate the natural dynamics of the orchestra while preserving authenticity. Throughout production, we worked closely with the Philharmonic to ensure the film reflected their artistic identity and community mission.

Results

The finished piece became a signature promotional asset for the Denver Philharmonic, helping the organization showcase its creative vision and expand its reach within Colorado’s arts community. The film resonated with both longtime patrons and new audiences, enhancing engagement across digital channels and serving as a centerpiece for seasonal marketing. Symphonic Sketches reflects Mile High Films’ ongoing commitment to elevating arts organizations through beautifully crafted, story-driven filmmaking.
