ABOUT

Concept

Race/America follows professional driver Robb Holland through a full GT4 race season, capturing the intensity, strategy, and human stakes behind his pursuit of the inaugural GT America championship. As director, I wanted to build a motorsports documentary that balanced high-speed action with character-driven storytelling—showing not just the races, but the personal sacrifices, team dynamics, and emotional weight of competing at the national level. The concept focused on access and authenticity, bringing audiences inside a world rarely seen up close.

Execution

Mile High Films produced the feature over seven tracks and fourteen races, blending vérité filmmaking with cinematic race coverage. We captured in-car footage, pit-lane strategy, long-form interviews, and behind-the-scenes moments that revealed the realities of running a small, independent team. The production required coordinated travel, multi-camera coverage, and a flexible crew capable of adapting to unpredictable race-weekend conditions. The visual language emphasized movement and tension—pairing high-speed photography with intimate storytelling to give viewers a complete, immersive view of the season.

Results

The completed 80-minute documentary showcases Robb Holland as one of the few Black professional race car drivers in the U.S. and highlights his journey to a third-place championship finish. The film has resonated strongly with motorsports audiences for its mix of adrenaline and emotional depth, and it continues to serve as a powerful example of Mile High Films’ ability to tell ambitious, high-access racing stories with polish and narrative focus. Race/America reinforces our reputation as a trusted creative partner within the racing community.
