ABOUT

Whilst at Seymourpowell we helped Huntleigh create a new generation of hospital bed that would compete globally.

The Enterprise range of hospital beds offer unique features designed to improve efficiency and reduce risks, for use in all acute care environments. They build upon Huntleigh Healthcare’s reputation for robust and reliable beds through the incorporation of more humanised and less harsh aesthetics, enabling the new beds to compete throughout the world. The whole hospital environment was taken into consideration, with the requirements of engineers, porters and cleaning staff addressed alongside those of patients and carers.

A visually lighter and less cumbersome bed was created, based on an oval section tubular chassis and featuring blow mouldings (rather than the usual metal) for all safety sides, head and footboards, with hand cut-outs for easy grip and easy dismantling for cleaning. The bed also converts with great ease into a chair position, with the safety sides able to pivot, so that they don’t have to be removed, as is the norm, with the footplate going straight down.

The bed was a Red Dot category winner and commended within the Design Week industrial design category commended in 2008.
