ABOUT
A 16-year-aged Old Grand-Dad Kentucky Straight Bourbon deserved packaging that matched its rarity and legacy. The challenge: honor the brand’s 140+ year heritage while elevating it for a more premium, contemporary audience. Our approach—Modern Heritage—blended archival authenticity with bold, modern design to reflect the prestige of the liquid inside.
We combined bold, stripped-back typography with nuanced archival details to create a modern-yet-authentic expression of Old Grand-Dad’s legacy. A refreshed heritage wordmark, a striking red age statement (inspired by pre-Prohibition labels), and provenance-driven copy reinforced the brand’s roots. Vintage design cues—from the yellow label to the neck ribbon and wax-sealed OGD monogram—were modernized to signal premium quality. Elevated textures, like raised black type and subtle border embossing, gave the pack a tactile finish worthy of the rare bourbon inside.
The final design set a new standard for Old Grand-Dad, reestablishing the brand’s premium positioning in a crowded bourbon market. Bold, heritage-driven, and tactilely rich, it not only honors the past but confidently toasts the future of Old Grand-Dad.
