ABOUT

Over 2 million girls in South Africa miss school when they are on their period. This is largely because they don’t have the facilities like taps, running water, or sanitary products to continue with their everyday life whilst menstruating. This is why Hamba Kakuhle was created, a period kit to help girls go on their way. Hamba Kakuhle is a Xhosa greeting meaning ‘go-well’, and with the help of out period kit, our girls certainly can! The logo and pattern was inspired by the wind dispersed seeds of the African Bush Willow tree. Like these seeds need the wind, a girl needs an education to take her to greater places in the future, and our pads provide the wings to help her along.
Nature made us women, and women make a plan!
