About me
As a curious and creative person by nature, my job paths over the last 13 years, have given me a unique set of skills not matched by many other book design professionals. As you will see from my resume I have taken opportunities that both enable me to grow as a designer whilst also allowing me to refine and vary the medium through which I design and find the direction that fulfills me as a Book Designer.
For the last few years I have been the Senior Designer at Penguin, specializing in novelty and pop-up books and also creating one of a kind pitch documents that have brought big Movie and TV licenses to our group. Prior to Penguin one of my roles was at Ralph Lauren in their advertising group, creating layouts for Catalogs and Magazine Ads. I have also previously worked for NY Times bestselling Childrens authors Robert Sabuda and Matthew Reinhart at their Studio in NYC. Although the majority of our projects were in book form, I was a core member of the team to design and run a series of elaborate in-store signage and displays for Borders Books; also co-coordinating a touring exhibition of Roberts artwork throughout Japan.
Having started my design career at HarperCollins designing Fiction and Non Fiction titles along with novelty and picture books, moving on to work in both licensing at Simon & Schuster and in advertising at one of the largest Fashion Icons, all the while designing interiors and covers freelance for Holiday House, I feel my well rounded design knowledge and skills in todays design world would be of significant value. My strengths are in brainstorming new and original formats and finding and maintaining relationships with illustrators. I have worked on everything from layout and type design, to color correcting, to physically being on press for the beginning of the assembly process and directing photo shoots. Being hands on is what really makes me happy and is something I wish to continue in my next career move.
I look forward to the opportunity to discuss my qualifications with you soon, and can be reached anytime by phone at ; or by e-mail
