ABOUT
“Loom”, for ‘klik’ rugs of Carpetus (TR), 2011
Design: Meriç Kara
I was inspired by the 'loom' experience- the way carpets are done and have pixelated or abstract graphics- Loom is a lower resolution version. Straps pass through the grid holes to be visible or invisible: then become the carpet's tassels. The grid hole system on the carpet enables the user to create pixelated graphics/ words- the user completes the carpet with his own creativity and needs. New functions may be discovered, as an example: the straps could hold rolled magazines when left loose as in the image. The pattern can be changed later and refresh itself each time.
