ABOUT

Last year, I started working on the idea of a film about a period of Bulgarian history known as the April Uprising. It is part of our National Revolution, but the film focuses on the aftermath. The April Uprising broke out prematurely on April 20 (May 2, New Style) 1876 and was violently put down. The atrocities committed against the civilian population by irregular Turkish forces reached the world society. They outraged public opinion in Europe, becoming known as the Bulgarian Horrors.
I created a film to retell these events and visually show the global outreach. Leading the production, I wrote the script after performing in-depth historical research and got in touch with Bulgarians all across Europe. I coordinated the filming in 8 countries total - the UK, Bulgaria, France, Italy, Germany, Spain, Czechia and Russia. After that, the postproduction came with some help from the team, I cut the video footage, music, sound and commentary were mixed and I added visual effects. For this purpose, I used primarily Adobe Premiere Pro as a professional video editing software. For the photography, I utilised Adobe Photoshop.
I am pleased to present the trailer for our film - "International Response of the April Uprising" and to see our hard work come to life. The film premiere is April 20!
