About me

I have worked at BBC East television and radio site for five years, primarily working in operations, engineering, media hub and ingestion as well as sound balancing for the breakfast and afternoon News opt. I also Edit and Direct as well as Studio Camera, Comms/CTA, line up and OB distribution.

Prior to my BBC employment my main skills were developed at college, and were mainly post production orientated.

I edit on linear and non-linear editing systems, concentrating on Mac Final Cut Pro, Avid and Sony Purple.

I'm also proficient in different graphic and compositing platforms such as Photoshop, Clarity, Livetype and Aston motif XL.

BBC East's recent move to the Forum gave me the opportunity to work with Quantel digital server systems including Q-edit and Q-effects. I have also worked with BBC East's graphic team, working closely with the designers making up maps, backings and a range of Astons.

I have completed numerous courses at BBC Wood Norton training centre in Evesham. This included fundamental courses in Video/Audio Engineering and broadcasting together with Technology, IT networking and communication. I also attended electronic and music balancing courses.

I currently work at BBC Cambridge as a Senior Technical operator. My main duties

being Editing, Vision mixing/directing and sound balancing regional output.

My editing duties involve me working closely with journalists and producers on a daily basis editing regional output for breakfast, 13.30, 18.30 and 22.30 news

Bulletins. As well as editing, a large part of my role is multiskilling .

I regularly liaise with different regional sites to send and ingest material onto our server system.

Having worked in a busy news room and through other experiences I understand the necessity to stay calm in stressful situations and above all maintain good communications.

I have a great enthusiasm for working within post-production and broadcasting and I feel I'm adaptable and a very quick learner.

I have a passion for editing and new technology and I am keen to advance within digital media, editing on all platforms and I believe my background and experience are well suited for this position.
